Miliyah Kato aka Miho Katou
Miliyah Kato is a Japanese pop and urban singer. She is from Toyota, Aichi, Japan. She passed a Sony Music Audition when she was only 13 years old in 2001 and began writing her own music and lyrics at the age of 14. Her official debut single was Never Let Go/Yozora in 2004 and was released on the debut album Rose in 2005. She is influenced by hip hop and R&B music including artists like Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blige. Her music also makes frequent use of sampling. She had also been called the "post-Utada Hikaru" at the time of her debut because of the similarities between their lyrics and their shared high school girl charisma.
